Follow your heart. Be Free.

In my life there have been too many times that I chose to not follow my heart or my wants because I was so concerned on how it may affect someone else. That someone not only included my family, but my friends and sometimes complete strangers who may or may not have ever existed, but I thought of them anyway. I know that there are other people like me out there, and I mean, hello.... are we not the best?

      The truth is: We aren't.

Along with always taking others into consideration, or being "empathetic" we are some of the worlds greatest martyrs. Oh yeah, the dreaded "m" word. I'll admit it. I'll "sacrifice" my fun and my dream life for the greater good. But what is the greater good? Not going to that party,  not eating the last slice of cheesecake, not moving where you want to move, not following your passion, not hanging out with "that" group of people... is that ending poverty? Is that ending hunger? Is that ending wars? The question may surprise you. But the answer will not.

How many of us have forced ourselves into a state of "No, it's okay. I don't need it." or "No, I couldn't possibly do that." for a reason as small as, "Well, I don't want to bother anyone." "Oh, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings."? Obviously you should never do something to put someone's life at stake, but I'm sure most of you are yearning for more life.... not death. So, screw your "I don't need it.." because I'm sure every once in awhile a want IS a need.

                         A need for growth.
                         A need for adventure.
                         A need for love.
                         A need for life.

Sometimes knowing that you take others into consideration and hearing other people recognize that fact can be enough to make us feel like sacrificing our wants is worth it, and yet, sometimes still we find ourselves... well, unsatisfied.

It is your time to live your life, and every moment you waste concerning yourself with other's opinions is another memory you'll miss out on. Another person you missed out on meeting. Another experience you don't get to grow from. Another awesome adventure you didn't take.

All in all, what I'm trying to say is that every time you don't follow your heart is just another time you missed out on becoming who you are and that means you are missing out on your possible destiny.

Yes, I'm saying that I hope you realize that you may be sacrificing your destiny on the slight chance that you may not offend a stranger that may or may not even exist.

Live. Laugh. and for heavens sake... Love.
